When Carolyn graduated from Bethel University with a BA in business she could not have known her world travels would lead her back to PRA. She’s glad it did.
After school she started working for Family Room Church doing their bookkeeping. From there she and her family moved to Belize. With three children amidst so much brokenness and social injustice she was tasked with doing lots of planning and organizing which led to the creation of Sound of Hope Ministries.
The mission of Sound of Hope is to connect with people via music—an international language spoken by everyone. She and her husband were leaders in the church in Belize organizing the worship services. The conditions were not easy and not pleasant. “There was no air conditioning. There was no hot water. There was garbage everywhere in the city and our living quarters were very small and cramped.” Space opened up for Carolyn and her family to hand the baton to the next missionary couple so eventually they moved back to the US.
“I love organizing and doing the bookkeeping—entering and collecting bills and ensuring everything is handled correctly and promptly. When my friend approached me about the opportunity to work for PRA, I was very interested. After meeting Mike and learning his philosophy is family first, I knew I’d found my vocational home.” She is invested in the details and creating systems that are smart and manageable for a business.
Her real joy comes from leading worship with her husband—playing guitar and singing—and just being present with her three children. If given an unexpected free afternoon she would enjoy the solitude of being alone at her home. Until that day arrives she’ll be going on hikes with her family, visiting local parks or helping train her family’s new dog.
